Once the Crytek cinematic team was wrapped up on Ryse: Son of Rome, we moved onto Homefront where we created cinematics and trailers for the Nottingham studio.
Being Lead Animator on the Frankfurt Studios Cinematic Team, I worked closely with our Cinematic Director, Peter Gornstein and helped oversee the creation of animation for the game´s cinematics and trailers. This involved a short pre-production phase where we created previz sequences within CryEngine and planned performance capture shoots at The Imaginarium Studios in London and Metric Minds in Frankfurt.
All of the Cinematics were shot in first person to keep in line with the gameplay which posed an interesting challenge during the shoot. Although we never saw the main character, we still had him on stage at all times and he was directed to interact with the other actors as normal and we used his head motion for the cameras later on.
